Economy bad, therefore everything is bad

Yesterday, I had a meeting with my sales team. When asked why sales figures are trending down, somebody replied casually  that it was because of the current economic condition. I told them although the upcoming CNY is the year of Ox, “bullshit” comments are still not tolerated. Much less appreciated.

Here’s my 2 cents worth of how we should view the current economic condition. Yes, it is a fact that the whole world is experiencing its worst recession since the Great Depression. Yes, it is a fact that many people will lose their jobs, homes and to some unfortunate extent, their lives. We have seen great American companies with many years of good reputation and products tumbled overnight, respected investment managers finally showing their true nature and most importantly, how GREED and SHORT TERM GAINS single handedly molded the world to what it has become today.

To me, this is a time to test your strength and abilities to the max. This is the time when you start to thinking of opportunities and reflecting on  your “what if”s  decisions. Simply because the world is going thru another change, where old ideas die and new ones grow. This is the coming of the Opportunity Age.

So, either you capitalize it like how Bill Gates and Steve Jobs did in the 70s or just become one of the many millions that just surrender themselves to fate, work their ass off just to collect a minimal paycheck at the end of the month.

The choice is yours. Think Big and think about it, Seriously.
